The Pongo Foundation collaborates with several international scientists who are specialized in diverse disciplines such as evolutionary anthropology, animal behaviour, ecology, conservation and physiology. These people have greatly influenced the policies and aims of the Pongo Foundation.

Pongo Foundation has created a board of advisors who will be consulted for advice and planning of new projects. The board of advisors is constituted by:

Studying wild orangutan cultures after building a new research site in Borneo.

Prof. Dr. Jan A.R.A.M. van Hooff
Professor Emeritus, University of Utrecht. the Netherlands
The most respected Dutch primatologist and ethologist. Educator of Carel van Schaik, Maria van Noordwijk, Frans de Waal, Liesbeth Sterck and Serge Wich.

Dr. Maria A. van Noordwijk
Assistant Professor, University of Zürich, Switzerland
Started research at Ketambe station in the 1980's and is now one of the leading researchers on orangutan development.

Prof. Dr. Carel P. van Schaik

Professor and Director of Anthropological Institute and Museum, University of Zürich, Switzerland
More than 125 publications in peer-reviewed journals and more than 60 bookchapters on primate research.

Dr. Ian Singleton
Director of Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme (SOCP), Medan, Indonesia
Accumulated expertise of 10 years with captive orangutans and 8 years with wild orangutans.

Dr. Liesbeth H. M. Sterck
Associate Professor , University of Utrecht, the Netherlands
Graduated in 1995 at Ketambe station, has now supervised more than 65 master and PhD students on primate research.

The George Washington University, USA
Started primate research in South America, now collaborating with multiple orangutan research stations.

Dr. Serge A. Wich
Invited Researcher, Great Ape Trust of Iowa, USA
One of the few researchers in the world who has studied the behaviour of wild bonobos and orangutans. Now head researcher of Ketambe.
